Alexander Keith Brewery Tour

Sampling!!

When we arrived in Halifax last night, we did the Alexander Keith Brewery Tour.  Entertaining, with actors in period clothing from the 1800's.  We toured the plant, and got to sample the product :-)

Today we left Halifax and headed to Port Hawkesbury.  We had a great ride along the eastern Nova Scotia shoreline, a taste of tomorrow when we will be doing the north shore of the Cape Breton Highlands.  We travelled along Highway 7, and followed the coastline, so the ride was amazing!  The weather was good, with sun and cloud and temperatures around 25 degrees.  We stopped for coffee in Sherbrooke, which was a quaint little town with a great coffee shop run by the locals.  We then headed to Antigonish, the home of Saint Francis Xavier University.  After travelling through remote areas, the town of Antigonish was suprisingly a fairly large town.  The university sprawls over a large area with lovely brick buildings.  We then continued to Port Hawkesbury.  Enroute we travelled over the Canso Causeway, which links the mainland of Nova Scotia and Cape Breton Island.  We had strong winds over the Causeway, but arrived safely :-).  We are heading off to dinner soon, and look forward to tomorrow!  This part of the trip is |Kevan's dream!  We will see shoreline, and hills and good turns, so the riding will be fun and scenic.

The coffee shop we stopped at in Sherbrooke today.  Our bikes waiting for us :-)
