Lethbridge to Creston on August 9

We left Lethbridge on Thursday morning and headed to Creston, where we were meeting our friend Peter, who was joining us for a few days in BC.

Leaving Lethbridge

We passed through Fort MacLeod, and then it didn't take too long to see the Rockies!
We also saw (and I don't think I'm exaggerating) 1000's of wind turbines.  I guess you could call these wind farms?

The Rockies!!  You can also see many wind turbines in front of the mountains...hard to see on these photos.

We travelled through the Crowsnest Pass.  We were able to view the Frank Slide, which happened in 1903, well before the Hope Slide, yet there is no re-growth of vegitation, and it looks like it might have happened just the day before!  Quite something to see.  A slab of limestone let loose and killed over 70 people.  Miners trapped below the slide were able to dig out to safety.

Blairmore, AB

Coleman, where we had breakfast

We stopped in Blairmore, where Gord was born, and tried to have breakfast here, however there were no restaurants open.  When we questioned the locals, they sent us up the street to Coleman, where we had a lovely home cooked breakfast.

We carried on and crossed the border into BC!!  It was good to be back.

Welcome to BC!!
We travelled through Sparwood, Fernie and Cranbrook, where we had a quick stop.  We continued on to Moyie Lake and stretched our legs here and then carried on to Creston.  We had beautiful roads to drive, with wonderful scenery.

We arrived in Creston mid afternoon.  Our hotel had laundry facilities, so Judy did laundry while Kevan took the motorcycle through the carwash.  We de-bugged the prairie bugs and were ready to explore BC.  Peter met us late afternoon, and we went to dinner together at a nice little cafe.  A former employee from Nova had moved to Creston 12 years ago, and his name came up in conversation when we arrived in Creston.  Guess who was having dinner at the same cafe!  We had a quick visit and caught up on our life events.  On to Kootney Lake tomorrow!
