Monday, August 6

This morning we left Winnipeg and continued our westward journey.  We were not sure how far we would get today, as we had four days off from riding, and didn't know how we would feel.  We didn't really miss a beat.  We made it all the way to Regina!  We passed beautiful sunflower fields in Manitoba.  We were also pleasantly surprised to find out that Saskatchewan has a few slight inclines and gentle curves!

Acres and acres of sunflowers!

We travelled along Highway 1, which has areas where there are stoplights and cross overs from side roads.  We also witnessed this scene today.  Kevan wishes we could do this in BC.

3/4 ton truck, pulling a 5th wheel and a boat!

We passed canola fields, flax fields, and of course wheat fields.

Add a few wind turbines in the wheat fields!

We thought we'd stop in alittle town along the way to stretch our legs.  This place intrigued because of it's name.  Turns out there are only 100 people left living here, and most of the businesses have closed up.  We did discover that the oldest grain silo in the world is here!

The oldest silo in the world in Sintaluta, SK

And today we also had abit of road kill on ourselves and the bike.  Welcome to the Prairies!  It is not as bad as it could be because we are coming through when the evenings are alittle cooler apparantly.  Kevan tries to get the bulk of the guts off the windshield whenever we stop before they are too baked on.  A car wash will be in our near future!

Hard to tell, but they are there!

Tomorrow morning we will head to Moose Jaw to check out some sights there.  Good friends Brenda & Kirby are from here, so we need to confirm all those rumors!
