Lethbridge

This morning we left Swift Current, Saskatchewan and headed to Alberta.  We saw our first oil rigs this morning, as well as more wind turbines and wheat fields.  One field had beef cattle grazing, with oil rigs right beside them, a wheat field behind that with wind turbines in it.  That was good utilization of one piece of property!

The landscape this morning

We passed all kinds of traffic on Highway 1 today too.  Harvestors waiting to turn left off the highway, a semi pulling two 53 foot trailers, a house being moved down the highway, and even three trucks pulling the blades from wind turbines that must have been on 150ft trailers!

We left Saskatchewan and passed into Alberta.

We stopped in Medicine Hat for lunch.  This city was much larger than we thought.  We could have toured a clay factory, but it was getting so hot out, we decided to keep on going.

We passed by buffalo in fields, as well as alot more beef cattle.  Alot of the fields had a watering hole, where the beef were wading in to cool off as well as drink.  We had a few more bugs today too...evidence on the windshield Kevan was looking through today.

Our road kill

We stopped in Tabor to cool off and stretch our legs, and parked beside a Harley that was almost identical to ours, in colour and accessories,  including the suitcase on the trunk.  We had ice capps together..they were from Ontario.

We are staying in Lethbridge tonight, and heading to BC tomorrow!  We plan to stay in Creston, and will be meeting our friend Peter, who is biking out from Naramata to meet us and ride with us for a few days.  The weather is supposed to cool off to the high 20's tomorrow, so that should make our ride alittle more comfortable!

Off to Beautiful British Columbia tomorrow!  We will be going through the Crow's Nest Pass and seeing the Frank Slide and passing through Blairmore, where the Dykstra clan immigrated to.  Looking forward to seeing the mountains!!
